Overview

Credit Risk Management Director - Senior Vice President is responsible for risk analysis and independent oversight of credit quality of assigned portfolios. The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of credit quality including compliance with requirements of regulators and internal control and will recommend opportunities and proposed resolutions for improved efficiency, effectiveness, and/or risk reduction for the department. Responsibilities

Partner with Business Lines to recommend and vet new product initiatives, origination strategies, pre-approval and pre-qualification campaigns, underwriting techniques, peer group comparisons, and process optimization. Assess asset quality, status and appropriateness of existing risk controls/compliance with underwriting policies/risk tolerance. Ensure underwriting credit analysis is sound and justifies/mitigates identified credit risk. Provide a comprehensive range of risk management expertise requiring creation, implementation and validation of various risk segmentation strategies using complex data. Demonstrate subject matter expertise and serve as an authority and credible challenge to management regarding credit performance, potential or emerging risks, and business conformity with risk appetite, credit culture, and policies. Deliver industry best practices, tools, guidance, and training to increase analytical capabilities and throughput. Develop, implement and manage the Credit Risk projects assigned. Develop and execute strategies and credit policies for lending and/or trading portfolios to mitigate credit risks without impacting portfolio growth or asset quality objectives and to correct risk budget deviations. Review credit decisions by analyzing samples of loans and/or traded products to provide feedback to the Credit Cycle and ensure compliance with Regulations. Establish and oversee tactical plans to achieve desired asset quality for lending and/or trading portfolios including the design of annual credit management programs to monitor compliance and deviations. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Accounting, Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics or equivalent field. – Required. Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics or equivalent field. – Preferred. 12+ years in Risk Management, Credit Risk, or Internal Audit. – Preferred. 12+ years in Financial Services industry. – Required. 5+ years Underwriting/Portfolio Management experience. – Preferred. Advanced knowledge of regulatory matters and compliance. Advanced risk, process, and control validation and/or assessment skills. Advanced credit and risk, process, and control validation and/or assessment skills. Ability to operate in a complex, matrixed environment and collaborate across business, functions, geographies and lines of defense. Track record interacting with regulators, external and internal audit. Expertise in Consumer and Banking businesses and applicable rules, regulations and processes. Strong risk management principles, methodologies and tools, governance principles. Ability to direct, train and guide peers, subordinates and management. Ability to generate well-supported conclusions based on trend analysis, due diligence, and understanding of the Bank’s risk appetite. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior management across the enterprise. Ability to convey urgency and drive issues/projects to closure. The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
