Overview

You will be a Tool Design Engineer Stf. for the LM Palmdale site, supporting the design and development of special tools and fixtures for assembly and fabrication operations. Our team is responsible for creating innovative solutions to manufacture aircraft components and final assemblies, while ensuring compliance with government regulations and company requirements. As the Tool Design Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, fabricate, and implement special tools and fixtures, utilizing CAD software such as CATIA V5. You will create detailed tool design CAD models and drawings, and provide shop floor support to resolve technical and manufacturing issues. You will also provide support to tooling vendors during the fabrication phase of tool designs and ensure configuration control is maintained. Other tasks include root cause analysis of tooling issues, implementing corrective actions, acting as a technical checker for tool designs developed by team members/vendors, and driving continuous improvement in our operations. Interim Clearance required prior to start. MUST BE A US CITIZEN — This position is located in a facility that requires special access. A level 4 employee typically has 10 - 15 years of professional experience. This position is in Palmdale, CA. Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, fabricate, and implement special tools and fixtures for assembly and fabrication operations. Create detailed CAD models and drawings using CATIA V5; provide shop floor support to resolve technical and manufacturing issues. Provide tooling vendor support during fabrication and ensure configuration control is maintained. Conduct root cause analysis of tooling issues and implement corrective actions. Act as a technical checker for tool designs developed by team members and vendors; Drive continuous improvement within the line of business. Basic Qualifications

Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) experience. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and diagrams. Ability to interpret metrology data. Experience with CATIA V5 Software. Tool Design and Fabrication Support experience. Aero Industry Experience. Ability to obtain and maintain secret clearance per business requirements. Desired Skills

STEM degree with 9+ years of experience. Hands-on mechanical experience, jig building, and CAD experience on any 3D drawing/analysis software. Tool design experience for composite part families and processes, including layup fixtures, trim fixtures, bond fixtures, and assembly fixtures. Exposure to root cause analysis and continuous improvement concepts. Exposure to vendor support and ability to travel domestically and internationally. Experience with CATIA V4 Software. Microsoft Office Suite experience (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word). Security Clearance

This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Clearance level: Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years. Other Information
