Overview
Title: Senior Electrical Engineer Location: Miami, NY, Los Angeles, Omaha Company: Schnackel Engineers, Inc. Responsibilities
Coordinate with the client, the MEP/FP/IT design teams, and other consultants to ensure the design is consistent with the client’s vision, to identify and resolve areas of conflict, to ensure a fully coordinated interdisciplinary design, and to ensure the design schedule is maintained. Participate in meetings and conference calls when necessary. Use AutoCAD/Revit and other software to create electrical construction document packages which plans include electrical distribution equipment, devices, equipment connections, luminaires, controls, fire alarm initiating devices and notification appliances, all associated circuitry, appropriate schedules and details, one line / riser diagrams, and construction specifications. Perform all required calculations to support design decisions, including load calculations, short-circuit calculations, and photometric calculations. Coordinate with equipment vendors and manufacturer’s representatives for the selection and specification of appropriate equipment. Provide mentoring and guidance for colleagues. Qualifications
ABET-accredited degree in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis on Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems. 3-5 or more years of electrical design experience with an MEP/FP engineering consultant. Engineer-Intern (EI) credentials in Electrical Engineering. Able and willing to obtain, Professional Engineer (PE) credentials in Electrical Engineering or with a PE diploma Exceptional communication and organization skills, including prioritizing tasks and multitasking. Advanced proficiency with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm & Signaling Code). Ability to work independently and efficiently upon receiving necessary direction and information. Experience designing lighting and lighting control systems, laying out and circuiting receptacles, designing connections to mechanical equipment and other equipment specified by the architects, designing emergency power systems, developing panel schedules, designing one-line / riser diagrams, and designing fire alarm systems.
