Multimedia Journalist/Editor

to help shape MSR’s newsroom of the future. This hybrid role combines reporting, writing, editing, and multimedia production. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with strong news judgment, digital savvy, and a passion for community-centered journalism. You’ll write and edit stories that elevate underrepresented voices, produce multimedia packages for web and social, and collaborate across departments to bring powerful stories to life. Responsibilities

Report, write, and edit stories for print and digital platforms. Produce multimedia content (video, photo, audio, and social). Edit contributor content for accuracy, clarity, and AP style. Pitch story ideas and support MSR’s editorial calendar. Assist with digital publishing, headlines, and layout as needed. Cover events, conduct interviews, and engage with community voices. Collaborate with designers, photographers, and digital teams to enhance storytelling. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience). 2+ years of newsroom or multimedia experience preferred. Strong writing, editing, and interviewing skills. Familiarity with AP style and newsroom workflows. Proficiency with CMS platforms and multimedia tools (Adobe Premiere, Canva, Photoshop, etc.). Deep understanding of issues affecting Black communities and a passion for community storytelling. Ability to manage multiple projects under deadline pressure. Why Join MSR
