Attention Alaska residents: The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Administrative Services, is recruiting for an Analyst/Programmer 1/2/3 located in Juneau. No cover letter is required. This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 14/16/18. What You Will Be Doing

This flexibly staffed Analyst/Programmer 1/2/3 position supports and enhances Department of Labor & Workforce Development systems, primarily focused on unemployment insurance program systems. The role includes professional development opportunities to progress from Analyst/Programmer 1 to Analyst/Programmer 3. The department uses a variety of tools and languages, with focus on learning and using Microsoft development tools such as C#, Visual Studio, .NET Framework, SQL Server, and Windows Server. Location is the Department of Labor and Workforce Development building in Juneau, Alaska, near the waterfront, Seawalk, and Overstreet Park. Standup meetings occur several times per week to facilitate communication. Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking candidates with some or all of the following competencies: Computer Languages : Knowledge of computer languages and their applications to enable a system to perform functions. Database Management Systems : Knowledge of database management systems and software to control data organization, storage, retrieval, security, and integrity. Software Testing and Evaluation : Knowledge of principles, methods, and tools for software test and evaluation procedures. Systems Life Cycle : Knowledge of systems life cycle management concepts used to plan, develop, implement, operate, and maintain information systems. Analyst/Programmer Level 1

Successful completion of nine (9) semester hours of college coursework in computer languages or system analysis, or three months of actual computer programming experience, or one year of work experience using a computer for analysis (including experience with computer reporting languages, spreadsheets, or statistical packages). Special Note:

An applicant who will complete the required coursework within three months of hire may apply; conditional offers may be made pending proof of completion before final appointment. Individual positions may require expertise in a particular area of programming or analysis. Some positions require a background investigation including fingerprinting. Analyst/Programmer Level 2

One year of computer programming experience in a recognized language, with one year in a business, scientific, microcomputer, or computer system user support specialty. Substitution options: a bachelor’s degree with a CS or CIS major, or related degree with 18 semester/24 quarter hours in CS or CIS may substitute for all required experience. An associate’s degree may substitute for nine months of experience. Special Note:

If using substitution, provide coursework completion within three months of hire; conditional offers may be made with proof of completion prior to final appointment. Individual positions may require expertise in a particular area of programming or analysis. Some positions require fingerprinting. Analyst/Programmer Level 3

FLEXIBLY STAFFED This position may be filled at any level depending on training/experience. Salary varies by level. Starting salary will be determined by the level.
