Job Summary

We are seeking a Principal Data Modeler to define, design, and govern our enterprise information architecture. The ideal candidate will be a thought leader who sets industry-aligned standards for data modeling and architecture, driving data interoperability, semantic consistency, and enterprise data governance. This role is central to enabling our cloud-native, AI-enabled data platform vision and ensuring trusted, high-quality data is available for business insights and innovation.

Responsibilities

Information Architecture & Data Modeling: Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models for cloud data platforms, ensuring scalability, performance, and flexibility

Develop and maintain canonical data models (CDM), shared taxonomies, and semantic models for assigned business domains

Translate business requirements into well-structured data models that support operational, analytical, and AI/ML use cases

Partner with engineering teams to design data contracts, APIs, and integration patterns that ensure data consistency across services

Data Architecture Design: Contribute to the development of domain-specific data architectures that align with enterprise data strategies and cloud platform standards

Design and guide implementation of data lake, data warehouse, and lakehouse solutions using platforms such as GCP BigQuery, Dataplex, Dataflow or equivalents

Support the integration of AI/ML models into data pipelines with a focus on data readiness, lineage, and governance

Data Governance & Quality: Ensure data models and designs align with governance, security, and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)

Collaborate with data governance teams to implement metadata standards, data quality rules, and lineage tracking

Support stewardship processes to maintain model integrity and alignment with evolving business needs

Collaboration & Influence: Act as a technical leader and subject matter expert on data modeling and information architecture for engineering, analytics, and business teams

Participate in architecture reviews, providing guidance on data design decisions and best practices

Contribute to the definition and enforcement of data architecture standards across assigned domains

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field

10+ years of experience in data modeling, information architecture, or data engineering, including 2+ years in an architecture or principal-level role

Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, and experience with SQL

Proven experience in designing and implementing data architectures, ETL processes, and MLOps practices

Knowledge of machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and experience in deploying ML models in production

Data modeling techniques: relational (3NF), dimensional (Kimball), Data Vault 2.0, hierarchical, NoSQL, graph models

Cloud-native data architecture: GCP (BigQuery, Dataplex, Dataflow), AWS, or Azure equivalents

Semantic modeling for BI / analytics (Looker Modeler / LookML, dbt, Dataform)

Data governance, lineage, and metadata management practices

Defining data contracts and API data schemas

Supporting data quality frameworks and data stewardship

Designing cloud-native data solutions that balance performance, cost, and scalability

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience implementing data architectures in a data mesh, data fabric, or lakehouse environment

Hands-on experience with modern catalog, lineage, and observability tool

Familiarity with MLOps pipelines and AI/ML data requirements

The pay range in the United States (Dallas Infomart Office) is 155,000 - 233,000 USD annually. Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
