Location: Dallas, TX The Principal Data Modeler will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex OLTP and OLAP data models across multiple platforms, including Snowflake, Big Query, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. He/she will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure our data models meet high standards of performance, scalability, and reliability. Additionally, the principal will mentor junior modelers in the US and India and serve as their direct manager as the team expands. This role reports to an AVP of Data Engineering & Architecture. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, cloud technologies, data architecture & modeling, and data pipeline development. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in technology and at least 10 years of experience in the data field. The role requires creativity, autonomy, strong delegation skills, and a hands-on problem-solving approach. Responsibilities:
Design Data Models: Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Database Management: Design and maintain databases for performance and security. Data Analysis: Identify data sources and requirements. Collaboration: Work with stakeholders to understand and translate business needs. Data Governance: Establish and enforce data modeling standards. Documentation: Maintain detailed data model documentation. Optimization: Refine data models for performance and scalability. Mentoring: Guide junior data modelers and team members. Troubleshooting: Resolve data issues and discrepancies. Stay Updated: Keep abreast of latest data modeling trends and technologies. Implementation Support: Assist in data model deployment and integration. Quality Assurance: Ensure data models meet quality standards and organizational goals. Qualifications (Education & Experience):
Bachelor's in computer science, IT, or related field (master's preferred). 8+ years in data modeling, database design, or data architecture, with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehousing solutions. Mortgage domain knowledge (e.g., mortgage products, lifecycle, regulations). Technical Skills:
Snowflake architecture, features, and best practices. Strong SQL skills for database management and query optimization. Experience with data modeling tools like ERwin, ER/Studio, IBM Infosphere Data Architect. Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and tools. Understanding of data warehousing concepts. Preferred Qualifications:
Snowflake SnowPro Core Certification. Certifications like AWS Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Data Engineer, Azure Data Engineer. Seniority level
