We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) to lead the EHS and security strategy for our manufacturing facility and one retail location. This senior leader will set the vision, build sustainable systems, and drive a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization. Location and schedule:

This role is 100% on-site in Chicago, IL reporting to the Senior Director, Quality and Technical Services. Schedule: Monday–Friday, occasional evenings/weekends for incident response. Travel: Up to 10% (vendor audits, retail support, professional training).

Own the EHS roadmap while leading and coaching the EHS team, safety committee, and front-line leaders to develop a network of safety champions Drive a Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) approach that emphasizes learning, prevention, and resilience Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA, FSMA, Chicago, and state regulations Lead programs covering LOTO, machine guarding, electrical safety, confined space, hot work, ergonomics, and environmental permits Oversee incident investigations using root cause analysis; track corrective actions through completion and share learnings across the organization Conduct site-wide risk and vulnerability assessments for confectionery manufacturing hazards, including combustible dust and ammonia refrigeration Develop risk-based training programs tailored by role and risk; deliver impactful and engaging sessions for all employees Promote active employee involvement through awareness campaigns, recognition programs, and continuous improvement events Lead emergency preparedness and response planning, including drills, first aid teams, and business continuity coordination Oversee third-party security services and manage access control, CCTV, and threat assessment processes at both the plant and retail site

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience 7-10 years of EHS experience in manufacturing with EHS program ownership Experience managing third-party security providers and security technology Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, FSMA food defense, incident investigation, and risk assessment Proficiency with EHS software systems, data dashboards and reporting tools

Preferred Qualifications

Professional certifications: CSP, CIH, CHMM, ISO-45001 Lead Auditor, CPP or PSP Experience in food or beverage manufacturing Experience with PSM-like systems (e.g., ammonia refrigeration), combustible dust, or contractor safety management Bilingual English and Spanish

Compensation
