Overview
A global manufacturing company is seeking a Senior Manager of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting to lead external financial reporting and oversee complex accounting matters. This role will ensure compliance with SEC regulations, U.S. GAAP, and internal control standards while driving accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in financial reporting. Location
Chicago, IL (Hybrid) Base pay range
$145,000.00/yr - $165,000.00/yr Additional compensation
Annual Bonus Key Responsibilities
Lead preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K Oversee preparation of financial statements, disclosures, and MD&A Manage XBRL tagging and reporting accuracy using Workiva or similar tools Research, document, and implement technical accounting guidance related to revenue recognition, impairments, leases, AROs, and joint ventures Draft and maintain accounting policy documentation and technical memos Monitor new and proposed accounting standards and assess financial impact Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting (SOX 404) Partner with Internal Audit and business units to ensure compliance and remediate deficiencies Collaborate with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Operations on reporting and consolidation Support automation and system improvements (e.g., OneStream, JD Edwards, Workiva) Manage audit requests and coordinate deliverables with external auditors Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting CPA required 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting or public company experience Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance Proven experience drafting SEC filings and performing technical accounting research Familiarity with Workiva, JD Edwards, or OneStream preferred Excellent analytical, written, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Competitive salary and annual bonus 401(k) with company match Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage Paid holidays, vacation, and parental leave Employee stock purchase plan and wellness reimbursement Seniority level
