The CalSTRS Investments Branch is looking for an experienced Investment Director to lead the Sustainable Investment & Stewardship Strategies (SISS) Team. This pivotal role focuses on managing a portfolio dedicated to sustainability-themed private market investments, engaging in corporate stewardship and proxy voting, and spearheading strategic relationships to drive the organization’s net-zero emissions strategy. The position requires a deep understanding of private market investments and engagement strategies, combined with robust leadership and strategic planning capabilities to fulfill the organization’s mission of protecting assets and creating long-term value. Responsibilities

Oversee the SISS Portfolio across global private asset investments in climate solutions. Collaborate with other private market asset classes. Lead the Stewardship & Strategic Relations team for proxy voting and corporate engagement. Manage relationships for the Investment Branch. Implement the Retirement Board’s net-zero emissions strategy. Requirements

Knowledge of private market investments focusing on climate solutions. Experience in engagement strategies for sustainability-related risk management. Experience working with senior management teams. Ability to develop and oversee investment strategy. Experience in managing investment portfolios. Strong leadership and problem-solving skills. A degree in Business/Finance/Economics or a closely related field. Professional certification in CFA, CCIM, FRM, CIMA, or CAIA preferred, offering a pay differential. Benefits
