Our proprietary CONVERGE engine houses a large database of multi-modal patient data sourced directly from human tissue. We use machine learning to map disease causes, discover targets, and de-risk drug development. We have delivered 2 new drugs to clinical trials, discovered 282 new targets, and signed partnerships totaling $1.6B. Our team includes engineers, neuroscientists, and drug developers pursuing the mission to build the Genentech of the digital age. Your Mission Reporting to the Head of Product & Engineering, the principal full-stack engineer will write and ship code that matures Verge’s drug discovery engine to enable faster, easier access to data and rapid innovation for internal stakeholders, while laying rails for third-party customers and partners to harness them in the future. Verge\'s platform team is a small, highly autonomous group of scientists, engineers, and subject matter experts. The successful candidate will help scope and direct priorities and technical solutions. Your 12 Month Outcomes Mature internal target discovery service into a self-serve tool for internal stakeholders MVP of a self-serve SaaS platform built on top of the internal service to allow external customers to leverage Verge\'s proprietary dataset and tools. You Will Own Design and build user-facing web applications that transform data platform outputs into intuitive, self-service products for internal and external customers Develop Django-based interfaces including views, templates, forms, and APIs to enable users to interact with data and analysis Create interactive dashboards and data visualization tools that make complex data accessible to non-technical users Collaborate with the Data Engineer to translate data structures, APIs, and pipeline outputs into compelling user experiences Build authentication, authorization, and user management systems to support multi-tenant SaaS operations Implement customer onboarding flows, account management interfaces, and self-service configuration tools Integrate charting/visualization libraries (D3.js, Chart.js, Plotly) for scientifically accurate displays Build RESTful APIs and backend services connecting Django apps to the data platform Participate in user testing and iterate on usability and features Establish automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines Monitor application performance, user analytics, and error tracking to identify improvements Work cross-functionally with science, engineering, and commercial teams to prioritize features and gather requirements Requirements Candidates must have: Either: BS/MS in computer science or related field with demonstrable professional experience in software engineering within genomics, drug discovery, or biotech, or BS/MS in biology or another relevant scientific field with demonstrable professional software engineering experience 7+ years of professional experience building web applications as a full-stack engineer, with extensive Django experience Extensive experience with frontend frameworks/libraries (React, Vue, or similar) Significant experience using data visualization libraries (D3.js, Chart.js, Plotly, etc.) Deep understanding of database choices and opinions on GraphQL and SQLAlchemy Mastery of Git, testing frameworks (Pytest and Jest), and CI/CD pipelines Web security best practices and state management Experience creating user interfaces that demonstrate value to users Ability to translate technical capabilities into user-facing features Experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Ability to thrive in ambiguity with changing priorities Alignment with Verge\'s values and a passion for impact on patients Exceptional candidates may also have Experience building SaaS or multi-tenant web apps Knowledge of modern CSS frameworks and component libraries Experience with web sockets or real-time data streaming Familiarity with data-intensive or scientific software challenges Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and Docker Experience with user analytics tools (Mixpanel, Amplitude, Google Analytics) Experience collaborating with scientific or technical end-users Values Ability to thrive in uncertainty with changing priorities Deep alignment with our values A passion for making an impact on patients Seniority level
