Overview

Cincinnati Children's is inviting applications for a Congenital Heart Surgeon. The individual selected will join the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC), a team dedicated to progressive surgical care of children with cardiothoracic pathology. Our research and innovation efforts within the division include basic science, 3D modeling and virtual surgery, outcome and translational research. We collaborate with the Divisions of Cardiology, Molecular Cardiovascular Biology, and other divisions throughout CCHMC. As part of the Heart Institute, a multidisciplinary business unit, our division has an esteemed profile internationally as a leader in the management of pediatric and congenital cardiac patients. The faculty appointment is granted by the University of Cincinnati and reports to the Chief of the Division. Surgeons within the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery may perform surgery at multiple locations. This position is a full faculty member in the Congenital Heart Surgery division and will be a member of the Congenital Heart Surgery lab and participate in a variety of research efforts. Responsibilities

The selected candidate will operate as a stand-by network surgeon supporting partnered hospital systems such as Akron Children’s Hospital, Kentucky Children’s Hospital, Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, and other partners. The candidate may reside where desired but must be available within 72 hours to report to a partner site. The surgeon will support the development and growth of the Heart Network with CCHMC while working with the Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon at each Heart Network location. Assignments will vary in duration and notice period and may include vacation coverage, weekend and holiday on-call shifts, monthly shifts, coverage for several months, or ongoing assignments. The duration of each assignment depends on the needs of the Heart Network Partner sites. Compensation will be commensurate with the time worked. Faculty appointment will be consistent with the applicant’s qualifications and experience for either a Professor or an Associate Professor with the University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics. Requirements

Must hold an MD/DO degree, or equivalent. Current active unrestricted medical license Associate/Full Professor appointment Board Certified/Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Congenital Heart Surgery or the international equivalent Appropriate medical credentialing through Medical Staff Services Completion of all required pre-employment activities (screening, background check, badging and orientation) Must disclose any official disciplinary actions by a hospital, specialty board, medical association, or government agency Desirable qualifications

Teaching and training competence in pediatrics for medical students, residents, and fellows Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Application
