About the Position
This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. Management Prefers
Highest preference for Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Women's Health Physical Therapy (WCS) or Board-eligible for WCS. Completion of at least 2 pelvic rehabilitation certification coursework through APTA or Herman and Wallace - preference for certifications such as CAPP-Pelvic, CAPP-OB, and PRPC. Duties
Treat both males and females with pelvic floor dysfunction. Perform and interpret results from both intravaginal and intrarectal pelvic muscle assessments and examinations. Recognize the appropriateness of responses to treatment based on indications, precautions, and contraindications. Recognize when to refer conditions outside the scope of physical therapy practice to the appropriate provider. Triage for behavioral health and medical patient safety; screen for medical referrals; maintain highly sensitive patient data. Develop, coordinate, and implement highly specialized treatment programs based on best practices for patient/client management, to relieve pain, restore or enhance performance, and maximize independence in functional abilities. Perform assessment of muscles, ligaments, nerves and bony landmarks within the pelvic floor and girdle as well as the lumbopelvic region. Provide clients and their families with counseling, education, information, and training regarding the nature of their impairments, functional limitations, treatment plan, goals, home program, and/or disability. Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire). Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
