Senior Event Coordinator Georgetown University comprises two unique campuses in the nation's capital. Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, Capitol Campus Event Management & Scheduling, plan and execute mid- and high-level events in support of the University's mission.
Provide assistance to other staff members in the OEM for larger, more complex events on the Capitol Campus and at off-site locations.
Create and manage event budgets, produce timelines, and work with the event sponsor on all aspects of the program.
Include Law Commencement planning; coordinate the expanded three-day schedule (two Celebration Days on the Law Campus and the formal Commencement ceremony on the Hilltop).
Manage a broad array of events including conferences, symposia, faculty events, Capitol Campus orientation, Law Reunion, and a variety of receptions, dinners, and special events.
Work Interactions This position reports directly to the Executive Director, Capitol Campus Event Management & Scheduling. The senior event coordinator provides leadership and guidance to the event coordinator and the event assistant and supports other members of the events team as needed under the direction of the Executive Director. The role is an integral part of the operations in special events and involves both independent work and support for other team members on large-scale events.
Work Mode Designation This position has been designated as Hybrid 2 Days. Such designations are regularly reviewed to meet the evolving needs of the University.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in event planning.
Undergraduate degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field preferred.
Familiarity with academic or non-profit environments; ability to work without close supervision.
Ability to interface with the public and maintain highly confidential information with professional discretion.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with EMS, Social Tables, and Cvent is a plus.
Analytical judgment, competent decision-making skills, and ability to prioritize competing demands in a busy events office; high degree of autonomy and initiative expected.
Pay Range The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position is $20.16 - $31.30. Compensation is determined by various factors including qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs.
