Location: Louisa, VA

Pay: $60,000-$65,000 per year

Position Overview

The Accountant plays a key role in supporting the Finance Department by assisting with accurate and timely month-end and year-end reporting. Prior experience with inventory/job costing and ERP systems is preferred but not required. This role reports directly to the Controller.

Responsibilities:

General Ledger & Month-End Close:
    • Record daily accounting transactions in the ERP system (receipts, disbursements, journal entries, payroll).
    • Prepare monthly account analysis and bank reconciliations.
    • Review variances between budgets and forecasts.
    • Monitor cash flow and manage vendor payables.
    • Review job profitability for accuracy.
    • Assist with inventory management and costing.
    • Prepare monthly sales tax filings and annual 1099s.
Business & Strategic Support:
    • Assist in developing annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
    • Support preparation of financial reports and presentations for leadership and investors.
Data Integrity & Process Improvement:
    • Ensure financial data accuracy and consistency.
    • Help streamline financial systems and reporting processes.
    • Support the implementation of financial planning tools and automation initiatives.
Special Projects:
    • Conduct financial analysis to support business cases and operational initiatives.
    • Assist with compliance, audit, and tax reporting as needed.
Qualifications
    • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience with focus on accuracy and reconciliations.
    • Experience with budgeting and forecasting.
    • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
    • Knowledge of state and federal reporting requirements.
    • Proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
