Principal Consultant – Life Cycle Assessment & Decarbonization

to sit in our offices across the United States. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial attitude, enthusiasm and a track record for supporting business development and technical efforts to help expand Geosyntec’s presence and capability in life cycle assessment (LCA) and decarbonization. This position requires a command of LCA technical challenges to advise executives, advisors, and regulators on product, operational and supply chain decisions related to low carbon certifications, claims and incentives, as well as new strategies and technology development. You will join a well-established team to be a leader and expert at the forefront of clients’ decarbonization journeys and help expand our business and practice with your talent and expertise. Location options include Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; Acton, MA; Costa Mesa, CA; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Denver, CO, or any other U.S. based office. Responsibilities

Serve as a subject matter expert on the development, implementation, and execution of life cycle assessment (LCA) strategies, approaches, models, and methodologies for regulatory applications (e.g., LCFS and US EPA RFS carbon intensity and pathways), international and voluntary frameworks, and environmental product declarations (EPD). Apply Argonne National Laboratory GREET model and state-specific versions, as well as other commercial LCA software (e.g., SimaPro, openLCA, GaBi). Understand technical client needs and provide sustainable solutions that are practical and consider costs and benefits of carbon management and GHG strategies. Lead business development, project management and technical work for LCA and carbon quantification projects related to incentive and regulatory programs. Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participation in client-based professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events. Act as a senior technical consultant and strategist providing leadership in project management, regulatory subject matter expertise, and QA/QC review on climate change projects. Develop ISO 14040/44-compliant LCA models and study reports; guide LCAs through external third-party critical review. Perform additional technical analyses (techno-economic assessments, climate and carbon-related project assessments, sustainability program support, data management and methodologies, QA/QC). Communicate actionable information to clients through reports, presentations, and workshops. Manage projects and staff, including technical leadership, risk management, and mentoring; work closely with staff in other offices. Assist in recruiting and training additional staff; serve in a leadership role for the company culture and values. Provide opportunities for professional development (conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, mentoring). Fieldwork approximately 5% and overnight travel typically approximately 10%. Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or project locations as needed. Education and Licensure

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, mechanical or chemical engineering or a related engineering discipline (required). Advanced degree in engineering (preferred). Professional registration (P.E.) (preferred). CARB-accredited LCFS lead verifier or similar (preferred). Life Cycle Assessment Certified Professional (LCACP) (preferred). Skills, Experience And Qualifications

At least 10 years of professional and project management experience, or equivalent. Experience performing LCA assessments and reporting, including knowledge of current tools and trends. Experience working with LCA verification agencies. Strong data management and computational skills; prior experience in LCA and carbon footprinting. Proven experience in client relationship management, sales, and business development. Extensive knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and high-level modeling tools. Ability to apply LCA results to regulatory contexts to identify value opportunities. Knowledge of Greenhouse Gas Protocol, ISO 14067, SBTi, TCFD, CDP. Excellent communication skills; regional visibility through professional associations preferred. Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel (required). Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
