Publicist
to join their team on-site in Stamford, CT.
Location Stamford, CT (Hybrid - minimum 3 days onsite)
Base pay range $75,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr
Compensation: $75,000 - $80,000
As a member of the USA Sports communications team, the Publicist will generate maximum, positive publicity coverage and target appropriate press/media outlets for our sports properties across its linear platforms. The role calls for creativity and collaboration, requiring work with USA Sports’ production, programming, digital sports platforms and marketing departments, as well as other communications departments within the company.
Responsibilities
Support the sports communications team and serve as a point of contact for the media for sports properties, fielding incoming interview requests and inquiries for its event coverage and studio shows.
Proactively pitch stories highlighting our sports production, marketing, on-air talent, and studio and original programming.
Develop relationships with media outlets – traditional and non-traditional – and think in creative ways to cut through the noise to build awareness of our sports portfolio.
Occasionally travel to events to assist PR efforts.
Generate and distribute press materials including programming and tune-in releases, announcements, and bios; manage and build press lists.
Develop, plan and execute events including media conference calls and press junkets in support of priority properties.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to execute overall campaign objectives for network priorities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related industry field
Must have minimum 2 years of experience in a Communications-related role preferably with a sports media organization, league or team.
Superior written and verbal communications skills
Experience pitching, booking and covering national and local media interviews
Effective multi-tasker with the ability to juggle several series in various stages of development
Strategic and critical thinker that can identify critical content and or talent issues to elevate in a timely manner
Ability to develop interesting and unusual creative ideas to help set the networks apart in the press
Solid organizational/creative skills, detail oriented, collaborative team player
Ability and proven track record working with high profile talent/athletes, producers and executives as well as positive media relationships
Proactive self-starter with the ability to think big and innovate
Must be willing to work in Stamford, CT
