$120,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr Tax Manager – Chicago, IL (Hybrid) Overview
We’re partnering with a publicly traded, growth-oriented life sciences company with offices in the city. The organization has multiple commercial products and an active R&D pipeline, with continued expansion through partnerships and new product development. The Tax Manager will be a key member of the Accounting & Finance team, reporting directly to the Director of Tax. This is a newly created position driven by growth and offers strong visibility, cross-functional collaboration, and future advancement potential. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in corporate tax compliance, ASC 740, and federal/state/local reporting. Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation, review, and timely filing of corporate income tax returns across federal, state, and local jurisdictions. Manage direct and indirect tax compliance for U.S. and international entities. Develop and maintain the income tax provision (ASC 740) and supporting documentation for quarterly and annual close cycles. Contribute to global tax planning, transfer pricing, and intercompany transaction oversight. Work closely with finance, accounting, and business partners to strengthen internal controls and streamline tax processes. Coordinate activities with external auditors and advisors during reviews and audits. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and reporting quality within the tax function. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA designation strongly preferred (or active progress toward certification). Minimum of 4 years of corporate tax experience; background in public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) preferred. Proven expertise in corporate income tax compliance and ASC 740 accounting for income taxes. Advanced proficiency with Excel and experience using tax software platforms. Strong analytical mindset, organizational skills, and clear communication style. Proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. Experience with automation or data tools Hybrid role based in Chicago, IL (onsite 3 days per week).
