Manufacturing Accounting Manager
is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions related to manufacturing operations, including cost accounting, inventory control, variance analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting. This role plays a critical part in driving financial transparency, operational efficiency, and profitability within the manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Cost Accounting: Oversee and maintain standard cost systems. Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard to actual costs. Track cost variances and identify opportunities for cost reduction. Inventory Accounting: Monitor inventory transactions, including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods. Reconcile inventory balances and investigate discrepancies. Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements specific to manufacturing operations. Analyze plant performance, production costs, labor, and overhead expenditures. Support month-end and year-end close processes. Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for manufacturing operations. Work closely with operations, supply chain, and procurement teams to align financial targets. Leadership & Compliance: Supervise and develop accounting staff as needed. Ensure adherence to GAAP, SOX, and company financial policies. Support internal and external audits. ERP & System Improvements: Work with IT and finance teams to optimize ERP systems and reporting tools. Drive process improvements and automation of manual accounting processes. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or CPA preferred). 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite). Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work cross-functionally and influence operational decisions. Preferred Skills: Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies. Knowledge of international accounting standards if applicable. Familiarity with standard costing and activity-based costing. Hybrid work model may be available. May require occasional travel to manufacturing sites. Fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
