Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced financial professional to join us as the Director of Accounting to provide leadership and execution of the preparation of the Company’s financial planning, budgeting and timely regulatory reporting. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this individual will ensure the integrity of financial operations and regulatory compliance, while also driving the Company’s financial strategy in support of its mission to provide stable, sustainable medical professional liability coverage, including trust and collateral management, surplus optimization, reinsurance recoverables, and banking relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning processes to align with strategic and capital objectives.
Ensure timely and accurate statutory, GAAP, and management reporting; maintain internal controls and compliance with NAIC and state regulatory requirements.
Support capital management activities including surplus adequacy, reinsurance recoverables, and investment portfolio performance.
Lead internal and external audit processes; ensure compliance with statutory filings, tax obligations, and regulatory reporting.
Oversee timely settlement of reinsurance recoverables, collateral postings, and credit risk exposure.
Coordinate with reinsurers, fronting partners, and regulators on capital adequacy and collateral sufficiency.
Support statutory and GAAP financial reporting, audit processes, and actuarial filings by providing accurate treasury and capital data.
Interact with advisors, brokers and third-party accounting service providers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred).
5+ years of progressive financial management experience, ideally in insurance or financial services.
In-depth knowledge of statutory and GAAP accounting, insurance regulatory reporting, and NAIC standards.
Experience with financial modeling, capital management, and investment oversight.
Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
