Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Engineering and Maintenance Manager to be a vital and valuable contributor to the success of the Pasadena, TX production facility for SBM Life Sciences. You will lead your team to ensure the optimal performance, reliability and safety of all production equipment and facility systems. This role is also responsible for improving manufacturing processes, enhancing product quality, and increasing operational efficiency. The position requires a hands-on leadership style, strong floor presence, and financial business acumen. You will collaborate with other departments to support production goals, implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies as well as drive continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university is required, preferably in a Mechanical or Industrial field.
Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience in a plant setting
Minimum of 2 years of direct team leadership/supervisory experience
Minimum of 3 years of pack line (CPG) experience
Previous capital plan/project creation and management
Demonstrated and successful lean/TPM/CI process improvement experience (belt certification)
Required Skills/Abilities
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact well with internal and external customers
Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills are essential
Demonstrated leadership, communication, tactical and strategic thinking skills
Ability to read, verify and edit mechanical drawings
Demonstrated ability to drive team performance
Ability to work independently to manage multiple projects and initiatives to meet established timelines
Self-starter, highly motivated to identify problems and take initiative to make corrective actions
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Creating and implementing maintenance procedures to ensure all equipment and systems are properly maintained.
Training and supervising maintenance staff to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely
Conducting regular inspections to identify issues and overseeing repairs to maintain operational efficiency
Tracking expenses and managing the maintenance budget to ensure cost-effective operations
Negotiating contracts and managing relationships with external vendors for maintenance services
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
Use data and KPI’s to drive maintenance performance and efficiency
Utilize CMMS to schedule, track and optimize maintenance operations
Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies
Manage engineering projects from concept through implementation, including timeline, budgets and resource allocation
Coordinate cross-functional teams for new product introductions and process changes
Evaluate, select and implement new manufacturing technologies and equipment
Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
Provide training and start-up activities of new equipment and processes.
Travel Requirements Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area travel and possible overnights may be expected.
