Senior Tax Accountant Responsibilities
Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and nonprofits. Ensure accuracy and compliance with current tax laws and regulations. Identify and resolve tax issues, including notices from tax authorities. Provide strategic tax planning and consulting services to clients. Advise clients on tax implications of business decisions, transactions, and investments. Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and communicate potential impacts to clients and the firm. Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service. Address client inquiries and provide clear, concise explanations of tax matters. Identify opportunities to expand services for existing clients. Supervise and mentor junior staff, providing guidance on technical issues and professional development. Review work prepared by staff and provide constructive feedback. Assist in training new hires and interns. Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met. Conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues and prepare memorandums or reports. Analyze financial statements and tax records to identify potential risks or opportunities. Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required). Master\'s degree in Taxation or Accounting (preferred). 5+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, with a focus on tax. Proven experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns. Experience with tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, or similar). Familiarity with Connecticut state tax laws is a plus. Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Compensation & Benefits
