Overview
Senior Environmental Underwriter (Sr. Level III or AVP Level IV) role at Zurich North America. The position is within the National Accounts Environmental team in Zurich’s Atlanta office, with potential remote or other office placements in the Southern territory at the discretion of the Hiring Manager. The role will be filled at Senior Environmental Underwriter (Level III) or AVP, Environmental Underwriter (Level IV) depending on the selected applicant’s experience and qualifications. As a Senior Environmental Underwriter, you will handle complex new and renewal domestic Environmental accounts and serve as a Subject Matter Expert on the team. You will work with Zurich\'s Underwriting Team to apply and hone underwriting and marketing skills while building relationships with Select Brokers focused in the southern territory. Responsibilities
Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules. Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business-related needs. May provide guidance to lower level associates. Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support business retention and acquisition and work with customers and distributors to determine insurance-related needs and provide solutions. Support the sales culture by serving as a Help Point for agents, brokers and customers. Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities. Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities. Qualify accounts to align with the organization\'s appetite and opportunity potential. Make broker/customer and on-site calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose. Basic Qualifications
Senior Level III
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Knowledge of Microsoft Office Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business Experience working in a team environment AVP Level IV
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Experience with Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications (Both Levels)
Bachelor’s Degree Technical knowledge of Environmental Underwriting Established broker relationships (retail brokers) within the south region Sales execution mindset Creative problem solving skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Compensation and Benefits
At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by location, role, skill set, and experience. Zurich commits to a fair and reasonable compensation range and provides information about Total Rewards. The combined salary range for this position is $98,500.00 – $215,000.00 with variations by level and eligibility for short-term incentive bonuses (Senior: 15%; AVP: 20%).
