Windows Automation Software Engineer Location:

Remote (U.S. based) Salary Range:

$130,000–$150,000 We’re supporting a client in their search for a

Windows Automation Software Engineer

to join their Infrastructure & Platform team. This is a mid-level role focused on building automation, streamlining infrastructure deployments, and strengthening infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices in both cloud and on-prem environments. What You’ll Do Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code templates and modules to automate Windows infrastructure (EC2/Azure VMs, Active Directory, etc.).

Create and maintain PowerShell scripts, Ansible playbooks, and DSC configurations to automate system setup, patching, and configuration enforcement.

Leverage CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.) to provision and configure Windows environments.

Set up observability, monitoring, and logging for Windows systems, supporting troubleshooting and incident response.

Collaborate with software engineers, cybersecurity, and operations teams to align infrastructure needs with application and mission objectives.

Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions to ensure quality, scalability, and security standards.

What We’re Looking For 3+ years of professional experience applying software development practices to Windows infrastructure.

Strong background in Windows Server environments: Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows security, and performance tuning.

Advanced PowerShell scripting skills (modules, installers, network and service configurations, etc.); DSC experience strongly preferred.

Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools; ability to analyze logs and metrics for troubleshooting.

Hands-on experience with version control (git) and branching strategies, integrating infrastructure into CI/CD workflows.

Knowledge of IAM/SSO solutions (ADFS, Okta, Azure AD) is a plus.

Exposure to AWS services (EC2, S3) and IaC tools (CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform) is a plus.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Security certifications (CompTIA Security+, Cloud+, etc.) or willingness to obtain shortly after hire.

Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a DoD NIPR account and CAC.
