The community college system’s more than 3,500 faculty and staff serve more than 60,000 students annually at seven colleges and five satellite sites. Project S.A.F.E. is a districtwide initiative across the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) whose mission is to support activities that develop campus-based coordinated responses that engage campus victim services, campus security, administrators, student leaders, student organizations, and disciplinary boards to prevent and address gender-based violence (specifically dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking). The project is funded by a grant from the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) and aims to promote equity in education by reducing barriers to educational access for those affected by gender-based violence by centering on survivor safety, empowerment, and healing through a compassionate and intersectional approach. This position is grant-funded and will be funded at least through September 2026. The Project facilitates supportive access to counseling, safety planning, academic support, educational and legal advocacy, and referrals to medical advocacy and legal representation. CCC has partnered with several community-based victim services organizations to provide referral support to survivors of gender-based violence. Primary Objective Reporting to the District Director of Project S.A.F.E., the Campus Coordinator – Project S.A.F.E. works in coordination with District staff, college administrators and other key stakeholders to establish multidisciplinary approaches to combat domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking on campuses. Campus Coordinators – Project S.A.F.E. are accountable for implementing the program’s objectives as well as the deliverables under the grant award, including: Overseeing a coordinated community response team that supports planning and implementation of prevention programming including bystander intervention and ongoing prevention activities to all students on domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking; Collaborating with CCC Security Directors, Chicago Police Department, and community partners to design and deliver training to all campus Safety and Security on how to effectively respond to gender-based violence with trauma-informed services; Facilitating ongoing training to staff personnel involved in the campus resolution process on trauma-informed practices; Collaborating with Project S.A.F.E. Survivor Advocates to promote and provide access to 24-hour confidential victim services and advocacy; and Performing related duties as required. Essential Duties Prepares and implements a strategic plan to serve as a roadmap for coordinating gender-based violence prevention and response at an assigned college. Implements campus activities, policies, and protocols to include coordination of efforts by multiple stakeholders on campus as well as community-based organizations. Plans and coordinates prevention events, awareness campaigns, and staff training sessions with guidance and input from the Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT). Implements initiatives designed to enhance violence prevention and victim services including legal services and prevention and education programs. Chairs the campus Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT); attends districtwide CCRT meetings. Meets regularly with the District Director of Project S.A.F.E. and other Campus Coordinators to align campus activities with districtwide priorities around gender-based violence prevention and response. Monitors and ensures compliance with mandatory staff and student educational initiatives. Maintains compliance with grant reporting requirements including completion and submission of mandatory program performance and budget expenditure reports. Tracks and maintains data on delivered services, campus events and activities, and related metrics for use in program analysis and evaluation. Attends required training and technical assistance activities over the three-year grant award period. Participates in the hiring and supervision of Peer Educators. Remains abreast of new legislation impacting programs and policies relating to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking on campuses. Reporting Relationships Reports To: District Director of Project S.A.F.E. Direct Supervision: Student workers/Peer Educators Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, social work, sociology, gender studies, or a related field. Master’s Degree preferred Three years of work experience in areas of program development and implementation Two years of experience working with survivors of domestic/intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and stalking or other vulnerable populations Completion of a 40-hour Confidential Advisor or Domestic Violence training program at time of hire or within nine months of hire Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for gender-based violence prevention, victim services, and the criminal legal process Experience with grant management and grant reporting Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Strong organizational and decision-making skills Must be able to work with a high degree of confidentiality Ability to handle situations with tact and diplomacy Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $69,545 - $75,000 Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
