Overview
Director, Patient Advocacy & Professional Relations - Obesity/MASH at Boehringer Ingelheim. This role is based on-site at our Ridgefield, CT location with hybrid flexibility of 2-3 days per week on-site. Responsibilities
Develop and lead the integrated, prioritized PAR TA strategy and initiatives, achieving objectives and positioning Boehringer Ingelheim as a leader in the therapeutic area. Lead with a global perspective, ensuring open communication with global patient advocacy colleagues so US perspectives are included and well-coordinated. Drive a strategic, prioritized, integrated TA/asset/cross-PE&A approach to ICP, launch readiness, collaborating with PE&E Directors and PX to drive synergies and optimize output. Develop and manage patient advocacy budgets and monitor expenditures, revising spend as needed. Oversee budget accountability of direct reports across all TAs. Drive external partnerships, collaborations, and sponsorships, identifying synergies and opportunities that advance BI’s objectives and those of non-profit organizations. Serve as point of contact with asset/brand/medical/Value & Access leadership and represent PE&A/PAR in relevant meetings/workstreams. Collaborate with leadership to develop communication recommendations and positions on policy matters across therapeutic areas. Lead a team of professionals, ensuring alignment with company goals through coaching, feedback, mentoring, performance management, and talent development to maintain a high-impact team. Work with legal, compliance and cross-functional teams to ensure efficiency and adherence to compliance, legal, and company policy in external partnerships and sponsorships. Foster cross-PE&A/TA collaboration, best practice sharing, and Patient Excellence initiatives, including innovation and capability building. Use patient insights to influence and shape therapeutic areas and ensure patient perspectives are incorporated into relevant initiatives, including disease education programs and clinical trial design. Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or MBA preferred in health care administration, public health, social work with a healthcare/patient advocacy focus or related field. Ten-plus (10+) years in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or related industry. Strong leadership and demonstrated team management abilities; strategic thinking, partnerships, problem solving, and account management. Coaching mindset with strong leadership, mentorship, and development skills. Proven ability to prioritize, make decisions, learn quickly, build relationships, and influence outcomes with and without authority. Experience cultivating relationships with leadership and external partners. Expert knowledge in patient advocacy, professional relations, patient engagement, government relations, marketing, and philanthropy is preferred. Understanding of brand and franchise needs related to scientific, medical, economic, and policy matters in BI’s therapeutic areas. Excellent written and verbal communication with executive presence; ability to navigate digital and social media for business and brand purposes. Domestic and international travel up to 30%. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction. Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required). Must be 18 years of age or older. Compensation & Benefits
