Overview
Director, Patient Advocacy & Professional Relations - CRM role at Boehringer Ingelheim. The Director is accountable for the assigned Therapeutic Area (TA), integrated Patient Advocacy & Professional Relations (PAR) across-asset strategy, oversight, leadership, budget and execution, including collaboration with global and US teams to integrate patient and professional perspectives into drug development, education, and go-to-market strategy. This is a leadership role focused on developing and maintaining relationships with patient communities and selected healthcare professional organizations, ensuring alignment with company objectives and PE&A priorities. This role is based on-site at our Ridgefield, CT location with hybrid flexibility of 2-3 days per week on-site. Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and lead the execution of integrated, prioritized PAR TA strategy and initiatives, achieving objectives and establishing BI as a leader in the TA Lead with a global perspective, ensuring open communication with global patient advocacy colleagues to coordinate US perspectives and initiatives Drive a strategic, prioritized TA/asset/cross-PE&A approach to ICP and launch readiness, collaborating with PE&E Directors and PX to optimize output Develop and manage patient advocacy budgets and monitor expenditures, revising spend as needed Oversee budget accountability of direct reports across all TAs Drive external partnerships, collaborations and sponsorships, identifying synergies and opportunities that advance BI and partner objectives Serve as point of contact with asset/brand/medical/Value & Access leadership and represent PE&A/PAR in relevant meetings Collaborate to develop communication recommendations and policy perspectives across therapeutic areas Lead a team through coaching, feedback, mentoring, performance management, career development and change leadership to create a high-performing team Ensure compliance with legal and policy requirements related to external partnerships, collaborations and sponsorships Foster cross-PE&A/TA collaboration, best practice sharing, and capability building Leverage patient insights to influence therapeutic areas and ensure patient perspectives are incorporated into initiatives such as disease education programs and clinical trial design Champion integration of patient perspectives across initiatives and areas of business Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or MBA preferred in health care administration, public health, or related field 10+ years in the pharmaceutical/biotech or related industry Strong leadership and team management abilities Strategic thinking, partnerships, problem solving, account management Coaching mindset with ability to mentor and develop others Ability to prioritize, make decisions, learn quickly, build relationships and influence outcomes Experience cultivating relationships with leadership and external partners Expert knowledge in patient advocacy, professional relations, patient engagement, government relations, marketing, and philanthropy (preferred) Understanding of brand and franchise needs, including scientific, medical, economic and policy matters related to BI’s therapeutic areas Strong executive-level communication and presence Ability to navigate digital and social media to support business and brand Domestic and international travel up to 30% Eligibility Requirements
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required) Must be 18 years of age or older Compensation & Benefits
