Overview
Position:
(JC-494451) Long Range Policy Planning Branch Chief Under the general direction of a Supervising Transportation Planner, the incumbent leads the Long Range Policy Planning (LRPP) Branch and supervises a team of Transportation Planners and/or Associate Transportation Planners to fulfill the mission of the Office of State Planning. The incumbent leads and monitors a variety of policy and statewide planning efforts to support the development and implementation of the California Transportation Plan (CTP), including managing the CTP Dashboard and responding to internal and external inquiries. The incumbent works closely with other management staff, various offices, divisions and districts within Caltrans to develop and review regional and state-led planning deliverables; deliver planning products to advance the State’s multimodal transportation system; identify “best practices” in statewide and long-range transportation planning; develop staff knowledge, skills, and abilities; and provide customer service to districts, partners, and the public in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the Long Range Policy Planning (LRPP) Branch, managing a team of Transportation Planners and/or Associate Transportation Planners.
Guide the development and implementation of the California Transportation Plan (CTP) and related statewide planning efforts.
Manage the CTP Dashboard and respond to internal and external inquiries related to policy and planning.
Collaborate with management staff and other offices, divisions, and districts to develop and review regional and state-led planning deliverables.
Deliver planning products to advance the State’s multimodal transportation system.
Identify best practices in statewide and long-range transportation planning.
Develop staff knowledge, skills, and abilities; provide customer service to districts, partners, and the public in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Experience leading policy and statewide transportation planning efforts and supervising planning staff.
Ability to work with multiple offices, divisions, and districts to develop and review planning deliverables.
Strong communication and coordination skills to manage inquiries and deliverables for the California Transportation Plan (CTP).
