Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is currently seeking a full-time Inpatient Staff Physician for our specialized inpatient oncology unit. The work schedule includes day and night shifts. Our inpatient staff physicians work in close conjunction with the attending oncology physician to provide day-to-day management for complex and acutely ill cancer patients. They operate within a multidisciplinary team with dieticians, pharmacists, social workers, care managers, child life, PT/OT, and nursing. In addition to clinical duties, inpatient staff physicians have opportunities to participate in quality improvement, clinical guideline development and implementation, resident, medical student, and clinical research. The Division of Oncology is among the Leading-Edge Specialized Multidisciplinary Cancer Clinical Programs, including our Advanced Cancer Therapies Center and the Cancer Survivor Center, ranked #1 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The work schedule includes day and night shifts, with weekend and holiday rotations.
Responsibilities
Patient Care - Perform direct patient care of pediatric patients within the scope of the medical license, education and experience. Work in inpatient and/or outpatient settings as needed to ensure appropriate medical staffing. Participate in safe, effective and compassionate patient care, commensurate with level of advancement and responsibility. Examine patients to determine disease presence and establish preventive health practices. Determine nature and extent of disease or injury, prescribe and administer medications and immunizations. Perform procedures, collect data, analyze data and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment and discontinuation of care. Formulate, maintain, support, monitor and modify a patient-specific plan of care, treatment and rehabilitation based on the patient\'s assessment. Plan and coordinate care and rehabilitation for discharged patients. Effective Communication - Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged. Provide data to contribute to the assessment of a patient\'s needs and the organization\'s capability to provide care. Regulatory and Policy Compliance - Must be credentialed and privileged through the medical staff process and appointed to the medical staff prior to performing clinical duties. Comply with policies protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information; adhere to the organization\'s ethical code in decisions regarding marketing, admission, transfer, discharge and billing. Ensure timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information.
Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Unrestricted licensed physician Approval/credentialing from the Medical Staff Services Division Experience in the specialty area may be required based on assignment Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Pediatric Advanced Life Support Neonatal Resuscitation CPR
