Overview
Lucile Packard Children\'s Hospital Stanford is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist II to treat pediatric patients. The role involves providing intervention to infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents with disorders affecting development of behavioral skills. The Speech Pathologist II is a senior therapist who develops treatment plans for complex cases across a wide range of ages and diagnoses, leads multidisciplinary care discussions, and mentors less experienced therapists. The clinician participates in program development, performance improvement, and departmental policy/procedure development, and may conduct diagnostic evaluations and treatment for communication disorders including speech, hearing, language, articulation, fluency, voice, and augmentative/alternative communication (AAC). The role may involve both inpatient and outpatient settings and includes discharge planning and family training as appropriate. Responsibilities
Provide diagnostic evaluations and treatment for patients with communication disorders, including speech, hearing and language problems. Address articulation, fluency and voice disorders; utilize AAC systems to improve communication when indicated. Evaluate and treat cognitive deficits and swallowing disorders at the bedside, including video fluoroscopy as needed. Develop and implement complex, age-appropriate treatment plans with defined methods, duration, frequency, and goals. Supervise and mentor students, interns, rehabilitation aides, and staff; participate in clinical teaching and training initiatives. Collaborate as a clinical care advisor within multidisciplinary care teams; participate in rounds and patient care conferences; educate other care providers. Lead or participate in program development, performance improvement activities, and development of departmental policies and procedures. Coordinate with medical teams to perform differential diagnosis and interpret diagnostic findings related to speech, language, cognition, and swallowing. Manage patient caseload to align with department productivity standards; ensure timely documentation, billing, and communication with patients, families, and care teams. Under the supervisor\'s guidance, initiate clinical research within area of clinical expertise when appropriate. Perform off-site visits and coordinate with community agencies to maintain continuity of care between hospital and community settings. Prepare and present in-services; assess and address the educational needs of staff and serve as a resource for colleagues. Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, ethics, and professional standards; uphold Joint Commission requirements and safety/quality programs. Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities, along with necessary licenses or certifications, is qualifying. Education:

Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. Licensure/Certification: Speech Pathologist in California RQI Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support or Basic Life Support by American Heart Association (AHA) Knowledge
Ability to apply advanced clinical skills in treating difficult and complex cases; supervise and evaluate students/interns; communicate effectively; develop measurable, family-centered treatment goals; provide care consistent with professional standards; resolve conflicts respectfully; apply clinical reasoning with safety considerations; adhere to ethical codes and performance standards; knowledge of relevant computer systems; knowledge of legal issues affecting clinical practice; knowledge of pathologies related to speech, language, cognition, and swallowing; knowledge of principles, methods, equipment, and theory in clinical practice. Pay Range Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary ranges are determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, and internal equity. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
