Overview This position is eligible for the

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) , a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Duties This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. All qualified applicants will be referred to the hiring manager on a weekly basis.

This position is in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Fayetteville VA Coastal Health care System (FVACHCS), and the Primary Care Service Line (PCSL). The successful candidate will serve as a Primary Care Physician. He/she is to ensure the quality and timeliness of the services provided, customer satisfaction, as well as compliance with the standards of accrediting bodies such as the Joint Commission and the Inspector General's Combined Assessment Program. He/she is to ensure appropriate use of the available resources, and will be responsible for the state-of-the-art standards of care. He/she collaborates with other services as appropriate.

Responsibilities The Primary Care Physician works as a leader of a multi-disciplinary health care team, collaborating with and directing other members of the team to provide Primary Care to Veterans enrolled to the team. The physician is expected to demonstrate advanced competencies and skills in assessing the physical and psychosocial status of patients and family members, play an active role in the multi-disciplinary health care team, promote preventive health measures, manage the acute and chronic conditions of his/her assigned panel of patients and those patients assigned to other team members when circumstances require.
