Job Title: Phlebotomist - Float
Location: Ellicott City
Duration: 2+ Months
Shift/Time Zone: Monday - Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm; rotational Saturdays 7:00 am – 1:00 pm
Driver’s license required. Floaters travel between multiple sites and are expected to be on time at whichever site they are covering for that day. They must also maintain a clean driving record.
Responsibilities
- The Phlebotomist III - Float represents the face of our company to patients who visit facilities for routine health appointments or for insights into health decisions.
- The Phlebotomist III - Float draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing in alignment with established practices and procedures.
- The Phlebotomist III - Float maintains direct patient contact, creating an atmosphere of trust while explaining procedures and performing blood draws in a skilled, safe, and accurate manner.
- The Phlebotomist III - Float provides coverage at multiple locations for multiple roles.
- The Phlebotomist III - Float ensures daily activities of the Patient Service Center/Mobile/Long Term Care/In-Office Phlebotomy are completed accurately and on time.
- The Phlebotomist III - Float demonstrates leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence and confidentiality/accuracy of patient information.
- Successful applicants may be assigned to work and direct daily activity in a doctor’s office, a patient service center, in a house call environment, long term care, or as business needs dictate.
- Must be able to step in for a Phlebotomist III - Float and lead one or more PSR on site.
- Will be required to act as a coach, mentor, instructor, resource advisor for new employees and provide effective onboarding to new clients.
- Act as the on-site point of contact and provide regular input to the group lead or supervisor.
- The Phlebotomist III - Float may focus on working with customers who have high complexity or high-volume practice requiring outstanding phlebotomy skills.
- These roles require strong customer-facing skills, including verbal and written communication, problem solving, and collaboration with multiple functions (e.g., Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT connectivity, Billing, and Logistics) due to specialty/complex test orders.
- Must be capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
- Five years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum 3 years in a PSC/IOP environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
