Compensation and Benefits

Full Salary Range: $33,097.00 - $54,314.00 Annually

Estimated Hiring Range: $41,781 - $45,190 Annually

About the Role

As a Solid Waste Operator, you will be responsible for the manual collection of yard waste, bulk items, and uncontained materials. This role involves operating a rear-loading solid waste collection truck and performing tasks that require heavy manual labor, including frequent walking, bending, lifting, and carrying. You will work outside in all weather conditions and must demonstrate strong team-oriented work ethics with a positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and drive a rear-loading solid waste collection truck.
• Service refuse, recycling, yard waste, and bulk waste customers safely and efficiently.
• Follow written and heuristically prepared routes, use two-way radios, and communicate effectively.
• Complete daily survey and vehicle inspection forms.
• Maintain a positive perspective and willingness to assist wherever needed.
• Cross-train in other duties within Special Services Operations as required.

The job is NON-EXEMPT under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
  • OR No High School Diploma/GED with 5-7 years of experience operating vehicles that require a commercial driver’s license
• 1+ years of experience operating vehicles that require a commercial driver's license
• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License, or Commercial Driver’s License Permit

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in solid waste collection (e.g., refuse, recycling)
