Overview
Our client, a well-established law firm located in the Houston Galleria area, is seeking a Legal Secretary / Paralegal with strong experience in Real Estate litigation to join their team. This is an in-office role ideal for a dependable professional who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and has a proven track record of long-term success in prior positions. The firm values individuals who are detail-oriented, proactive, and able to provide both administrative and substantive legal support to attorneys.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with all phases of Real Estate litigation, from case inception through resolution.
- Draft, proofread, and format pleadings, motions, discovery responses, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and gather case law, statutes, and supporting materials relevant to landlord/tenant matters.
- Manage and maintain case files (both physical and electronic), ensuring accuracy, organization, and accessibility.
- Prepare and organize trial exhibits, evidence binders, witness lists, and other materials for hearings and trials.
- Coordinate and schedule depositions, court appearances, and client meetings.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Monitor case deadlines, filing requirements, and procedural rules to ensure compliance.
- Assist with billing and time entry for attorney review and submission.
- Provide general administrative support, including calendar management and document filing.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience, preferably in real estate law.
- Experience performing both paralegal and legal secretary duties in a busy law firm environment.
- Strong working knowledge of landlord/tenant law, civil procedure, and court filing processes.
- Excellent research, writing, and document drafting skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
- Strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Professional demeanor, excellent communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated reliability and solid tenure in previous roles.
