Duties and Expectations

  • Guest Relations: Greet guests happily upon arrival and throughout their stay with a smile.
  • Name Use: Use the guests’ names whenever possible, ensuring they feel properly welcomed.

  • Recovery: Ability to handle challenging guest situations with hospitality and a sense of urgency.

  • Phone Etiquette: Answer all incoming calls with friendly service using the approved greeting.

  • Sparkling Clean Workspaces: All areas, both front and back of the house, should be kept clean and well-organized.
  • Pitching In: Cleanliness is a team effort; everyone may be asked to assist with cleaning guest rooms and public spaces as needed.
  • Hospitality While Cleaning: Always greet every guest happily with a smile, by name if possible, while cleaning.

  • Checklists to 100% Accuracy: All operational checklists are completed accurately and at the designated times, every shift.

SECTION TWO: Role Specific Duties and Expectations

The Bartender provides customized beverage service to the hotel’s restaurant/bar customers in a friendly, energetic, and timely manner. Responsible for ensuring guests are having a great time and/or relaxing at the bar. Associates are passionate about guest service and can communicate effectively and multitask.

Responsibilities

  • Friendly Greeting: Greet guests and describe food and beverage options.
  • Bar Organization: Maintain proper setup of the bar area.
  • Bar Stocking: Stock beer, wine, spirits, paper products, garnishes, and perishables; manage fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables.
  • Mixology: Mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard recipes with portion control.
  • Meeting Attendance: Attend monthly departmental meetings.
  • POS Skills: Input orders and process payments accurately.
  • Cash Management: Handle cash, make change, verify charges, and balance money.
  • Bar Stock Management: Lock up and store beverages and equipment; manage cash drops and banking at end of shift as needed.
  • Bar Hygiene: Sanitize and clean around the bar area.
  • Side Work: Complete daily inventory prep and other side tasks per labor rules.
  • Menu Knowledge: Knowledge of current offerings; promote and document drink orders.
  • Food Safety: Ensure compliance with food safety policies and procedures.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness of the restaurant and surrounding areas.
  • General Hotel Knowledge: Know hotel hours and amenities.
  • Team Player: Collaborate with service and kitchen teams.

SECTION FOUR: Qualifications & Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Work Experience: Hospitality, service, consumer-facing roles preferred. Knowledge of drink preparation; bartender experience preferred.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
  • Provide friendly service with a smile.
  • Flexible schedule including days, nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Arrive on time and clock in/out as scheduled; do not work while clocked out.
  • Clock in/out for breaks as scheduled.
  • Provide sufficient notice when calling out as directed by supervisor.
