Job Summary
The Program Director, Careers in Computer Science will utilize industry knowledge and program management skills to scale up programming and resources designed to prepare students for successful careers in computer science, data analytics, and related fields in alignment with current market trends. With limited supervision, this role supports growth and execution of pre-professional programs to increase access to technical careers for diverse and underrepresented students. The role manages and executes events, develops pre-professional workshops and experiential programs, provides one-on-one advising for students, supports outcomes reporting, and collaborates with campus partners as needed.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements a cohesive strategy for student success in computer science careers through early engagement and ongoing support.
- Designs and implements computer science–specific career programs and resources, drawing on deep industry expertise and connections.
- Organizes and leads programs and workshops highlighting opportunities in computer science fields, such as hackathons, technical interview workshops, and career exploration trips to tech hubs around the world.
- Builds and maintains a portfolio of tech employers to drive internship and full-time job opportunities.
- Connects students with research opportunities in computer science in both academia and industry.
- Provides high-quality career advising to undergraduate students and alumni through one-on-one sessions.
- Maintains high levels of customer service and support to employers.
- Develops and maintains relationships with campus partners and faculty.
- Assembles resources to assist students in gaining experience with coding.
- Analyzes placement and survey data to develop data-driven strategic initiatives.
- Analyzes markets and trends related to job searches; uses student feedback to determine program offerings and innovations in collaboration with career services staff and student organizations.
- Researches organizations that are hiring and partners with a broad range of employers to ensure recruitment strategies meet their needs; serves as dedicated liaison to a portfolio of employers.
- Performs other related tasks as needed.
Education & Experience
- Minimum qualifications: college or university degree in a related field.
- Work experience: 5–7 years in a related job discipline.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other quantitative STEM field.
- Experience in talent development or human resources in the tech industry, or supporting technical roles; experience with college-aged students, recent graduates, or early career professionals; understanding of graduate education opportunities in computer science and related fields.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools and other industry-relevant technical skills.
- Understanding of recruitment processes for computer science roles (e.g., software engineering, data science, product management, UI/UX).
- Knowledge of online employment sites, CRM systems, and other job-seeker resources.

Working Conditions
- Work evenings; occasional weeknights and weekend days.
- Travel two to three times per year.
