Position Title: HR GENERALIST - Sunnyvale, CA
Salary: $80000 - $90000
Bon Appetit is a restaurant company that operates in contract food service. Our passion is food and outstanding service. This position is an on-site HR generalist role supporting a sizeable corporate dining operation.
Job Summary
We are seeking a HR professional who has a passion for hospitality and food & beverage operations. Our HR Specialist is responsible for recommending, developing, and administering human resources policies in the areas of recruitment, separation, employee relations, disability and leave management, benefits, classification, compensation, performance management, training, and project management.

Key Responsibilities
- Administers policies and programs in the areas of recruitment, separation, employee relations, disability and leave management, benefits, classification, compensation, performance management, training, and related HR areas.
- Manages, develops, and evaluates staff recruitments and separations, including mass hires.
- Prepares and processes hiring paperwork in a timely manner; prepares job postings, reviews applications, and interviews applicants; makes recommendations for a wide range of positions.
- Coaches & counsels department managers and supervisors on employee relations policies, procedures, and practices.
- Works with employees to resolve sensitive or difficult work-related problems.
- Applies professional HR concepts when counseling employees on moderately scoped work-related issues.
- Serves as the leave of absence administrator to ensure compliance with policies and guidelines.
- Conducts new employee orientation.
- Guides supervisors in developing job descriptions, benefits communications, and compensation program guidance.
- Counsels and guides supervisors in performance management, including annual reviews; manages the process for performance evaluation.
- Manages sensitive and confidential information and collaborates with client groups.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field; HR hospitality industry experience preferred.
- PHR or SPHR designation strongly preferred.
- Three or more years of HR generalist experience; management experience a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of HR policies and procedures, employment practices, salary administration, training, and related areas.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle difficult situations with tact and discretion; ability to work independently and in a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to analyze data to solve complex problems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with diverse teams.
