Youth Care Specialist - PT/FT Days - St. Catherine of Siena

Overview Position: Youth Care Specialist (Direct Care Provider) for PT/FT Days Shifts – St. Catherine of Siena, Chicago 60108. Openings in the Casa Imani Program.
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day teaching and guidance, and treatment of the youth in Maryville Academy.
Implement individualized treatment plans or specialized treatment strategies.
Assist with the management of the living environment of the program.
Promote the learning of desirable behavior patterns in a safe and nurturing environment.
Ensure consistent implementation of the Maryville philosophy and Model of Youth Care.
Provide individual and group instruction in social living skills, independent living skills, vocational and job-related skills, appropriate touch, anger management skills, maintenance and hygiene skills, academic skills, and recreation activities.
Document Medicaid services and complete unusual Incident Reports when required.
Participate in individual and treatment team meetings and contribute to treatment decisions regarding program and youth.
Assist youth with processing events and emotions in a confidential manner across behavioral areas.
Implement Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) techniques when required.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, education, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or related human service field.
OR bachelor’s degree in any field with two years of experience in a mental health or recovery setting.
OR High School Diploma/GED with five years of experience in a mental health or recovery setting.
Must possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License and be able to drive a passenger van.
Must be over the age of 21 and able to interact professionally within a treatment team.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with youth, supervisors, coworkers, and support agencies.
Flexible scheduling; willingness to work evening and weekend shifts.
Physical Demands
Required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and drive for extended periods; ability to navigate stairs.
Ability to lift/move objects and/or youth weighing up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to provide physical restraint to youth when necessary.
Work may involve contact with youth who may be hostile, dangerous, or under the influence of substances.
