Job Summary: Under supervision of Laboratory Manager, performs waived laboratory tests in a remote or mobile setting. Also responsible for monitoring quality of reagents and working condition of instruments.

$24.18-$29.89 Shifts Available:
5:00am-1:30pm and 2:00pm-10:30pm Essential Functions
Receives specimens from phlebotomists and couriers. May operate a delivery van to bring the mobile lab to an area of high volume of STAT testing when applicable. Enters patient demographics and test orders into lab information system. Checks the quality control of each test prior to running and reporting patient results. Performs lab testing in the areas of point of care which may include Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Molecular and Coagulation. Data entry of test results. Confirms abnormal results prior to releasing and brings any “rare and improbable” test results to the attention of a supervisor/manager. Performs blood collection to include venipuncture and capillary specimens. Processes specimens and logs requisitions as needed. Close monitoring of STAT board to ensure STAT TAT goal is obtained consistently. Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and ensures compliance with state requirements for documentation of lot numbers with quality control and specimen records. Troubleshoots problems (client, instrument, computer) as needed. Performs maintenance on the automated instrumentation as needed. Records the quality control and maintains the QC records on all assays performed. Performs other tasks and procedures that are commensurate with education, training and abilities. Responsible for all clerical functions associated with specimen integrity, testing, identification and reporting of department testing. Follows all safety protocols as outlined in safety manual. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and ability to drive safely. Familiarity with lab process and workflow. Previous experience with phlebotomy and laboratory testing preferred. High school degree or equivalent. Any certification/licensure needed per state requirements. Must possess an active MLT or LVN license. State of California only – qualify as testing personnel for waived testing, a minimum of licensed medical laboratory technician or licensed vocation nurse.
