Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Cardiology – Inpatient Based
Position preference: 3-5 years of Cardiology experience. Base pay range: $53.80/hr - $80.70/hr. This range is provided by Advocate Health Care. Obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, assess and determine differential diagnosis. Prescribe medication, therapy and treatments accordingly. Interpret and evaluate patient data to determine management and treatment. Perform minor surgeries and routine procedures. Consult with physician as appropriate. Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies as determined competent by a physician. Adjust patient care plans by reviewing and monitoring treatments and therapy plans. Counsel, instruct and educate patients on physical and mental health, including diet, preventive health measures, health behaviors, self-care skills, disease, treatment options, and age-related needs. Provide care coordination, including managing ancillary services, pre-operative plans, discharge planning, provider referrals and medical devices such as insulin pumps, defibrillators, and pacemakers. Prescribe, recommend and regulate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies across multiple care settings, including controlled medications as warranted by diagnosis or changing condition. Prepare, dictate and sign patient care plans and summaries. Maintain records according to established standards and guidelines. Provide clinical direction to nursing staff regarding patient care and ensure delivery of recommended care. Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served, with understanding of growth and development across the life span. Licenses & Certifications Physician Assistant license issued by the state of practice Physician Assistant (PA-C) certification issued by NCCPA Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice Nurse Practitioner (ANCC) or (AANP) certification issued by respective boards DEA registration BLS for Healthcare Providers (AHA) certification Degrees Bachelor level degree in Physician Assistant (required as specified) Master's Degree in Nursing Functional Experience Cardiology experience preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Clinical proficiency with strong decision-making Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team Excellent oral and written communication; collaboration and relationship-building skills Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist throughout the workday Functional speech, vision, touch and hearing Lift up to 50 lbs; push/pull 30 lbs; assist with transfers Exposure to hazards (mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and body fluids); use protective equipment as necessary Operate required medical equipment Additional Information Seniority level: Not Applicable Employment type: Full-time Job function: Other Industries: Hospitals and Health Care
