At Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Perioperative Services team members work in a fast-paced environment that tests professional judgment and critical thinking, offering growth opportunities. You\'ll work with world-renowned surgeons and anesthesiologists, assist on procedures, and contribute to developing new procedures and treatment protocols. Role: Surg Tech Extern (PRN); schedule includes 2 shifts every 6 weeks, with hours varying and may include day/night shifts, weekends and holidays during the externship. Responsibilities
Assist in turning over rooms and ensure supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper locations. Assist with preparing operating rooms for surgical patients, review surgeon preferences, obtain necessary supplies, ensure cleanliness, and assist with opening sterile supplies under supervision. Assist with surgical scrub duties and with collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens under supervision. Participate in educational activities related to the extern program, including unit-specific educational information. Support safety requirements as this is a safety-sensitive position; maintain alertness and safe work practices. Minimum Requirements
Education Enrolled in an accredited SurgTech program; completion of first two semesters, starting their 3rd semester or beyond. High School Diploma or GED Experience No Experience required Supervisor Experience No Experience required Preferred Qualifications
