The Ambulatory RN 2 identifies patterns of patient responses and uses past experiences to implement solutions for current situations. The Ambulatory RN 2 is a competent nurse who has mastered technical skills and utilizes evidence-based interventions. The role collaborates with the health care team and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures. Responsibilities: Establishes a caring, therapeutic relationship with patients and families through effective communication and mutual goal setting for optimal patient experience and outcomes. Implements a plan of care that considers cultural, spiritual, intellectual, age, educational, and psychosocial characteristics. Maintains professional relationships with all members of the healthcare team; collaborates with other disciplines to meet patient needs. Coordinates care using the nursing process and appropriate health services across the care continuum. Delivers evidence-based ambulatory care nursing interventions during clinical visits, telephone encounters, and electronic communications in compliance with regulations and policies. Contributes to quality initiatives, care protocols, and evidence-based activities to improve patient care and outcomes. Assesses safety needs and implements strategies to minimize risk during visits and communications. Prioritizes care for complex patients using knowledge from clinical experience. Assesses and evaluates patient/family needs across the care continuum and adapts the plan of care accordingly. Supports clinic goals and change initiatives; participates in nursing shared governance. Provides education to staff and/or students in the clinic. Required Job Qualifications: Current license and credentials by the state they are assigned. At least one year of nursing experience required. Earned Nursing Degree at the Baccalaureate level or higher for those hired after January 1, 2014. Transfers to Rush entities require a baccalaureate degree or higher prior to transfer. Approval by Chief Nursing Officer for RNs with ADN degree hired after 10/22/2020; continuing enrollment toward BSN with contract stipulation to complete within 3 years. ADN RNs hired after 10/22/2020 must show BSN progress; ADN RNs are not eligible for leveling to RN3. Current CPR Certification. Analytical ability and effective communication skills to lead and teach. Ability to interact effectively in difficult situations. Ability to check documents, enter data, and examine specimens/images/reports. A specialty certification may be required within 12 months of hire. Preferred Job Qualifications: National Certification. Physical Demands: Ability to walk throughout the Medical Center; standing/walking for most of the shift. Ability to lift or carry objects 35-40 lbs and assist with patient handling; some patients may exceed 300 lbs. Work may involve procedures with potential hazards and exposure to infectious materials and chemicals. Benefits:
