Overview

HELIX Environmental Planning, Inc. (HELIX), a California-based employee-owned environmental consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Habitat Restoration Lead to join our team in Los Angeles (El Monte). HELIX provides biological and cultural resources, regulatory permitting, landscape architecture, acoustical, air quality, habitat restoration and GIS services to public and private sectors. Habitat Restoration Lead Duties

Provide crew oversight at maintenance and/or construction sites. Transport the crew from HELIX locations to job sites in a company vehicle (may include hauling a trailer). Lead daily safety tailgate meetings and ensure crews follow HELIX safety standards. Train and direct crew members to perform tasks, and perform tasks alongside the crews. Interact with clients and project managers as needed and report data as requested. Participate in multiple training programs periodically; additional responsibilities may vary by project/task. Occasional out-of-town travel is required. Note: This is not a landscaping position. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and organizational skills, plus good writing and communication abilities. Responsibilities Summary

Lead and supervise habitat restoration crews. Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies. Coordinate logistics, reporting, and client interactions as needed. Participate in ongoing training and adapt to project requirements. Minimum Requirements

3+ years of landscape and/or habitat restoration experience. Ability to operate a smart phone and electronic devices (tablet, iPad, etc.) for reporting. Willingness to travel out of town occasionally (including overnight stays). Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record over the last three years. Physical ability to work in varying terrain and weather conditions; ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods. Ability to operate small equipment (weed whacker, chainsaw, backpack sprayer, hedger, pole saw, etc.). Preferred/Additional Skills

Knowledge of native plants and weed species. Plan reading and takeoff experience. Grading, planting, and BMP knowledge. Mechanical skills; minor electrical experience; fence installation experience. Irrigation systems experience (installation, layout, valves, controllers, troubleshooting/repairs). Previous experience in a crew lead position. Compensation

Hourly wages will be based on qualifications and experience. Starting hourly rates range between $26 and $29 per hour, commensurate with experience. Salary Description: 26-29/hour Employment Type & Location
