Responsibilities
Observe and report suspicious activity and behavior to the Port Authority Police.
Protect the assigned areas and enforce rules and regulations.
Familiarize yourself with all post orders and maintain an operational post.
Provide assistance to the public when not compromising security objectives.
Ensure compliance with Port Authority and federal rules regarding identification of personnel and vehicles in the AOA/SIDA.
Conduct vehicle inspections as required.
Report to PAPD for unauthorized access, unruly individuals, and fires.
Direct traffic at posts and provide construction escort services as required.
Inspect contractor work areas for security procedure compliance.
Report unclaimed or unattended property and make full reports to supervisors for unusual circumstances.
Perform duties during emergencies as directed by the Manager.
Screen and log persons/vehicles seeking access to restricted areas.
Report hazardous conditions and security risks to appropriate personnel.
Perform airport perimeter fence inspections and respond to alarms and emergencies.
Assist PAPD by rendering aid to persons in public areas until medical help arrives.
Maintain activity logs and monitor access in secured/restricted areas using proper tech.
Post duties start 30 minutes prior to tour for roll call and travel to post.
Dress in uniform while on duty.
Requirements and Qualifications
Relief personnel are required for this position.
Adhere to Port Authority uniform and appearance guidelines while on duty.
Do not use personal cell/wireless devices on post unless approved by the Manager.
Comply with sections of the SOW, including Tours of Duty (Section 8).
New Jersey assignments require state guard certification; New York assignments require FDNY fire watch certification and coverage as required by the Manager.
