Open Rank Tenure-Line Faculty in Machine Learning, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence in the Department of Computer Science at Texas State University, San Marcos. The position may be at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and/or Professor rank to begin in Fall 2026. Position is subject to availability of funds. Responsibilities

Job duties include conducting research that results in refereed publications and external funding, teaching effectively at the graduate and undergraduate levels, supervising student research, and serving at the department, college, university, and professional levels. Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications (Assistant Professor): An earned doctorate in Computer Science or a closely related field prior to employment. Evidence of or potential for research excellence in Machine Learning, Data Science and/or Artificial Intelligence. Recent publications will be emphasized, but all publications will be considered. Evidence of or potential to obtain external funding Evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring students. An ability to contribute to the departmental mission. Required Qualifications (Associate Professor): An earned doctorate in Computer Science or a closely related field. Evidence of research excellence in Machine Learning, Data Science, and/or Artificial Intelligence. Recent publications will be emphasized, but all publications will be considered. Evidence of having obtained research grants. Evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring students. Ability to contribute to the mission of the department. Required Qualifications (Professor): An earned doctorate in Computer Science or a closely related field. Evidence of a sustained record of research excellence in Data Science, Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence. Recent publications will be emphasized, but all publications will be considered. Evidence of a sustained record of obtaining research grants. Evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring students. Ability to contribute to the mission of the department. Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor: Demonstrated record of excellence in research (including potential in obtaining external funding), teaching, and service. Effective oral and written communication skills. Preferred qualifications for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor/Professor: Record of excellence in research (successful preparation of grant proposals and acquisition of funds for research and a strong publication record). Teaching (including experience mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate research students). Record of service. Effective oral and written communication skills. Application Procedures
