Open Rank Tenure Faculty - Digital Humanities Texas State University seeks applications for two open rank tenure line faculty positions at the rank of Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor to teach in the area of Digital Humanities (DH). We define DH broadly as both the use of digital technologies to complement, intersect with, and expand the understanding of, the Humanities as well as focusing a humanistic lens on the methods and results of emerging sciences and technologies. Responsibilities

Be grant active and coordinate interdisciplinary grants with both internal and external collaborators. Conduct and publish original research in Digital Humanities. Lead interdisciplinary collaboration with faculty across the university. Develop and maintain an active research agenda. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Digital Humanities and related fields. Mentor and advise students. Contribute to the development of the Digital Humanities curriculum. Participate in service activities at the department, college, and university levels. The successful candidate will join the department(s) appropriate to their area of scholarly focus and will be assigned the appropriate rank based on college and university rules and policies. In addition, the successful candidate will help lead the proposed Ph.D. program in Applied Humanities. Required Qualifications

For the rank of Assistant Professor: Ph.D. in Humanities, or a related field. Evidence of a scholarly focus and research in an area of Digital Humanities. Evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring students. Evidence of or potential to obtain external funding. For the rank of Associate Professor: Ph.D. in Humanities, or a related field. Evidence of a scholarly focus and research excellence in an area of Digital Humanities. Evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring students. Evidence of obtaining external funding. For the rank of Professor Ph.D. in Humanities, or a related field. Evidence of a scholarly focus and sustained record of research excellence in an area of Digital Humanities. Evidence of sustained record of excellence in teaching and mentoring students. Evidence of a sustained record of obtaining external funding. Preferred Qualifications

An applicant’s qualifications will be evaluated proportionate with time since completion of the Ph.D. Preference will be given to applicants with the following: Evidence of activity in organizing conferences and sessions in Digital Humanities including Artificial Intelligence. Record of successful application of digital tools and methodologies for humanistic inquiries (e.g., text mining, digital mapping, data visualization). Experience in teaching and mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students. Strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration. Evidence of community engagement for scholarship and teaching.
