Responsibilities
Laurel Ridge Treatment Center provides behavioral health and addictive disease services in San Antonio and South Texas. The 330‑bed facility is on a 29‑acre campus and serves patients across the lifespan. The hospital is part of Universal Health Services (UHS).
Responsible for Specialized Therapeutic Services for the hospital through direct care of patients and supervision of Recreation Therapists, Music Therapists, Activity Specialists and other personnel. Maintains safety standards and quality performance indicators for the department. Implements programs that are therapeutic as part of the treatment plan for patients based on evidence‑based practice.
Supervises Recreation Therapists, Music Therapists, Activity Specialists and Lifeguards as needed.
Develops department policies and procedures as needed.
Develops and monitors the department QA/PI as part of the quarterly process.
Maintains inventory, procurement of equipment and supplies.
Schedules use of recreational facilities throughout the hospital.
Oversees the Challenge Course and related activities.
Oversees and evaluates internship programs.
Supervises special events provided by the STS department.
Documents provision of services including assessments, Master Treatment Plans, and daily progress notes, including co‑signing on documents prepared by the Activity Specialists.
Programs and facilitates Specialized Therapeutic Services on acute, partial, and residential units.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
Related work experience: 5 to 8 years.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification.
Music Therapist Board Certified preferred.
Must have current High and Low Elements Facilitator Certification or acquire within 90 days of hire.
