Overview Laurel Ridge Treatment Center has been the premier provider of specialized behavioral health and addictive disease services in San Antonio and South Texas. Our 330-bed facility is one of the largest freestanding psychiatric hospitals in the United States. Responsibilities Responsible for Specialized Therapeutic Services for the hospital through direct care of patients and supervision of Recreation Therapists, Music Therapists, Activity Specialists and other personnel. Maintains the safety standards and QPI for the department. Implements programs that are therapeutic as part of the treatment plan for patients based on evidence-based practice.
Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
Related work experience: 5 to 8 years.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification through the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification required.
Music Therapist Board Certified — preferred
Must have current High and Low Elements Facilitator Certification or acquire within 90 days of hire
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
Supervises Recreation Therapists, Music Therapists, Activity Specialists and Lifeguards as needed.
Develops department Policies and Procedures as needed.
Develops and monitors QPI of department on a quarterly basis.
Assumes responsibility for maintaining inventory, supply inventory and purchasing of equipment and supplies.
Schedules use of all recreational facilities throughout the hospital.
Assumes all responsibilities for Challenge Course.
Oversees and evaluates Internship programs.
Supervises Special Events provided by the STS department.
Documents provision of services including assessments, Master Treatment Plans, and daily Progress Notes, including co-signing on documents prepared by the Activity Specialists.
Programs and facilitates Specialized Therapeutic Services on acute, partial and residential units.
