Overview
AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only networking event in Philadelphia on October 9-10, 2025. This event is a great opportunity to learn about career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026 and to connect with AECOM staff for early career opportunities. The event on Thursday evening features a networking mixer (6-8 pm) with information about projects, career paths, and the company. On Friday, interviews will take place at the Philadelphia office.
AECOM is seeking a highly talented
Entry-Level Structural Dam Safety Engineer
to join the East Region Dams Practice. This position will support a variety of Dam Safety Engineering projects across the East Region and report to the Germantown, MD office.
This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support for projects including stability and strength analyses, structural design, Potential Failure Mode Analyses, Semi-Quantitative Risk Assessments, site inspection, construction observation, and regulatory compliance activities for various hydraulic structures.
Prepare structural evaluation reports, drawings, and specifications for dam projects. Coordinate with CAD team to prepare structural drawings and visual aids.
Prepare and perform quality reviews of other engineers’ deliverables, such as design calculations, engineering reports, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on Dam Safety Engineering projects.
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to travel for project work part time as needed.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with demonstrated coursework in Structural Engineering (e.g., reinforced concrete design, statics, structural dynamics, mechanics of materials) or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.
Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
Experience with related software such as AutoCAD, Mathcad, and structural analysis software (e.g., STADD Pro, SAP2000, Ansys).

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Travel is required for this position.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $75,000.00 - $85,000.00.
