Geotechnical Driller Assistant - Miami, Florida. PSI, an Intertek company, is searching for a Driller Assistant to join our Building & Construction team in our Tampa, Florida office. About The Building & Construction Team: Intertek's Building & Construction division provides assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting services to support reliability, safety, and performance of new developments and existing facilities. What you’ll do
Assist with soil drilling, rock coring, soil/rock sampling, classifications, in-situ testing, and monitoring well installation Assist in the operations of various drilling rigs Operate support vehicle equipment Assist Driller to manipulate, load, and unload drill rig tooling Interact with geotechnical engineers and project managers to understand drilling assignments and to relate field information to the office Prepare tooling and supplies for the day’s tasks Assist in assembling and disassembling drill tooling, including solid-flight augers, hollow-stem augers, rock core barrel assembly kits, Shelby tube samplers, split-spoon samples, etc. Assist with the identification of boring locations using GPS Retrieve and log soil/rock samples Clean and maintain equipment and assist in site cleanup Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal and team safety Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
Must be bilingual and able to verbally communicate in English and Spanish Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form Requires basic math skills Ability to receive work instructions and follow tasks Must be able to work off shifts and overtime Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record Preferred Requirements and Qualifications
HS Education or Equivalent (preferred) Experience assisting with drilling operations is preferred, but not required – WE WILL TRAIN! Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, move, push and pull up to 50 pounds frequently; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance Ability to receive detailed information through hearing and to discriminate sounds Ability to kneel and squat occasionally Ability to walk and stand for long periods Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold) for most of the day Ability to climb occasionally Intertek: Total Quality.
